Colin Allred Will Destroy Texas's Top Industry

HOUSTON — Texas is the top energy producer in the United States and one of the top energy producers in the world. The Lone Star State has become a haven for energy companies across the nation, as we recently saw when Chevron announced it would be relocating its headquarters from California to Houston.

Senator Cruz has been a longtime leader in protecting and promoting the energy industry in Texas. He recently received a proclamation for leading a bipartisan effort to oppose the Department of Energy’s distribution transformer rule, which would have increased energy costs for Texans, disrupted a critical supply chain, and delayed new home construction and growth in cities across Texas.

One look at Colin Allred's record tells you all you need to know about how he would cripple Texas' energy industry.

COLIN ALLRED’S ANTI-ENERGY RECORD:

  • In 2017, Colin Allred agreed with an interviewer about the need to transform the Texas economy to address climate change, even if it “may be hard” for the oil and gas industry. Video (11:42 – 12:35)
  • Allred Sided With Biden in House Vote to Reverse White House's Pause on LNG Exports
  • Voted against the Lower Energy Costs Act of 2023
  • Allred voted yes on Kathy Castor’s HR 9, the Climate Action Now Act, which tried to prevent President Trump from withdrawing from the Paris Agreement and require him to submit a plan to Congress to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 26 to 28 percent by 2025
  • Allred voted NAY on H.R.7176 - Unlocking our Domestic LNG Potential Act of 2024, which aimed to repeal restrictions on the export and import of natural gas
  • Allred voted NAY on H.R.2811 - Limit, Save, Grow Act of 2023, which aimed to lower energy costs by increasing American energy production and exports, among other stipulations
  • Allred voted against the Restoring American Energy Dominance Act
  • January 27, 2021- Four Texas Democrats wrote to Joe Biden asking him to overturn his federal ban on fracking. Notably missing: Congressman Colin Allred
  • Allred has voted twice against an effort to prohibit Presidents from unilaterally banning fracking and industry, which created 1.7 million jobs, increased wages, and benefited local economies. Such a ban could increase energy costs for the Average American family by 14%.
    • On October 29, 2019, Allred voted against considering a resolution to prohibit future presidents from unilaterally banning fracking.
    • On February 11, 2020, Allred voted against an identical measure

A Cruz Campaign spokesperson issued the following statement.

“Colin Allred doesn’t know the first thing about generating energy; all you have to do is look at the excitement around his campaign to know that. His campaign has started to attempt to walk back some of his radical climate stances in an attempt to play both sides, but no one is buying Chameleon Colin's flip-flopping.

“When you think of Texas, you think of energy dominance. Allred’s record shows that he will prioritize the radical climate agenda that will kill the jobs of hard-working Texans across our state and bow down to the far-Left progressives of the Democratic party who want to ban fracking and shut down oil and natural gas production.

“Senator Cruz has worked tirelessly to protect the energy industry his entire Senate career and will continue to do so once re-elected. Colin Allred is a rubber stamp for the Green New Deal and will work against our energy workers, not for them.”
